KEEPING TAX DOLLARS LOCAL

LOCAL CONTRACTORS WORKING ON MEASURE A PROJECTS

VUSD is working to keep tax dollars local. While VUSD has only accepted lowest responsive bids for each public bid, contractor fairs and local advertising has helped attract more local bids.

28% to Local Business
As of April, 2019 an estimated 28% of Measure A expenditures to date have gone back to local contractors. Currently, the district has employed local companies like A2R Architects, Lister Construction, Vaca Valley Excavating, Swank Construction, Cal Inc, Vista Environmental, Landscape and Pavers Inc, Alpha Alarm, and Pacific Power & Systems.

39% to Union Contractors
39% of Measure A expenditures have gone to general contractors that are union signatories, providing a balance between supporting local business and labor groups.

The remaining expenditures have gone toward toward building materials and tangibles like computers and furniture.
